Keps Cup!

The first MTB race of the season took place in Vallentuna, outside Stockholm. It was part of the Keps Cup, which is the local cross country racing series that take place every spring and sometimes in the fall too. It was a fun but very slippery course, only snow and ice. Would have been better with studded tires. But it went ok and got some good training on my new Cannondale F29 It felt really good. And yes, I won. Next up on my schedule is a week of training and then 2 more races in the Keps Cup next weekend.

Training camp in Nice

IMG_5399

Here are some pics from the training camp in Nice, France. It felt good to be back on a road bike after such a long and harsh winter. And with a new roadbike it´s even better. My roadbike this year is a Cannondale Supersix Evo Red RacingNordic Cycling helped me to mount all my specific parts on the Cannondale just in time for this camp. Big thanks to them! An SRM for example. I´ve decided to use an SRM Powermeter this year again. So I really wanted to have it installed before the camp. It was kinda fun and also interesting to train with a power meter again. Did that a few years back but now I feel like it would be a boost to see my progress (or lack of:) again. Anyway, it´s fun with gadgets! Before the camp I had Marcus Lofjord from Delta Naprapati perform a Bike Fit on me & my road bike. He succeeded and the bike felt great the whole week. No back pains and I felt like I had the ideal position. I can really recommend him.

I was there with CK Valhall for 1 week of training on the fantastic roads around Nice and Monaco. We did some really cool and hard rides. And no crashes, only one puncture. However, spring hasn´t really arrived down there either so we had quite a lot of snow up in the mountains, but most of the col´s were rideable. Did some classic rides like the Col de la Madone(check it out on my Strava), Col de Turini, Col de Vence etc..

Thanks guys for a great week!

Suffer & fun in the sun in Lanzarote!

In the end of january I started my season by racing the 4 day stage race Club La Santa MTB in Lanzarote. I´ve never been to that island so it was a nice experience and I had an awesome time. Was really good to meet up with some biker friends there too. Especially zee germans of  Team Bulls, Stefan Sahm and Karl Platt. My shape was so-so for the time being. I was around 10th for the first 3 stages, which included a point-to-point cross country of 38 km, a marathon of 60 km, a mountain time trail of 20 km and then finally a longer marathon of 80 km. But after only 2 kms into the last stage 4 I hit a stone and cut the sidewall of my rear tire. The hole was too big to carry on off road. Did put in a tube but it came out of the tire hole right away. So I had to DNF! But went back to the hotel and fixed it and went out training. I actually went back out on the course to cheer on my dad and our friend Atle Hansen, who were also racing. They won their categories, some our house hold had some success at least  :-)

The remaining days of that week I joined the Team Bulls(who were guiding some organized Club La Santa rides) for some longer MTB tours on the island. Good times!
